    It ain’t your heart that’s foolish sweety, it’s your father and stepmother.  And no you don’t want people like that involved in your life.  You don’t want them involved in your life untill they are no longer the kind of people they are.  They can change, but you don’t have to wait, and hope, and let your life revolve around them as long as they remain the same.  Leave them where they are and move on.  It is beyond your ability to fix them if they don’t want fixed.
